Our Story
Photo Create is a subsidiary of the Eastmon Group of companies. The Eastmon Group is family owned private group and was first established in 1961. Photo Create is based in Glen Innes, a regional town in NSW and is an on-demand manufacturing business and was established 2006.
About Eastmon Group

Eastmon Photo Laboratories is founded as a Black and White processing business by Howard Eastwood with his cousin Robert Lemon. (Robert leaves six months later but Howard keeps the mon in Eastmon).

Kodak launches 35mm Colour film which is expected to replace black and White processing.
Howard Eastwood writes to Kodak USA to understand how colour film processing works and builds his own Colour film processing machine in his backyard in Glen Innes. He starts processing colour film in regional NSW offering an overnight service for all pharmacies.

Eastmon Launches World's first Same day processing service in Tamworth. Howards brother Richard invents colour paper processing machine to offer 3 hour service. The business explodes to become the largest independent Kodak dealer in Australia.

Eastmon expands to 10 locations across regional NSW offering same day processing and wholesale service to pharmacies.

Eastmon stores join Camera House and add retail camera sales to develop and processing of Colour film. The group continues to expand.

Eastmon develops a store-within-a-store model for pharmacies and quickly expands to 10 stores in partnership with pharmacists.

Howards son Hugh joins the business and adopts principles of Michael Gerber book “The E Myth” to establish a unified system-driven organisation with ambitions of growing to 100 stores.

Howard Eastwood retires and hands over management of business to his sons Hugh and Dan Eastwood.

Hugh explores market for Digital processing services as Eastmon has become disillusioned with Kodak and their offering. The Eastmon group decide to leave Kodak after 40 years and join up in a strategic relationship with Fujifilm.

The Eastmon group launch the World’s first multi self-serve kiosk for digital print order in Tamworth NSW. A bank of 4 kiosks integrated in with the store point of sale system and supported via VPN network back to head office. The business explodes and stores are upgraded to 8 kiosks per store.

Hugh Eastwood presents at PMA convention about the digital revolution and the benefit of Digital. Within 2 weeks both Kodak and Fujifilm approach the Eastmon group to have Eastmon manage their own retail chain of company owned stores.

Eastmon decide to work with the Fujifilm and licenses its multi kiosk business model to Fujifilm and takes over the management of Rabbit Photo stores in Australia. Rabbit Photo has 130 stores across Australia and employs around 3000 staff. The Eastmon model is incredibly successful and kodak is forced to close 150 of its retail stores.
The Eastmon group starts an IT company called Smart Networks to develop software solutions for the Eastmon group and external clients.

Fujifilm roll out the Eastmon multi kiosk model to Big W and Harvey Norman in the Australian Market.

Photo Create is established to provide on demand Photo books, wall décor and gifting products to the Eastmon group of retail photographic stores.
Snapfish approaches Photo Create to become a fulfiller in the Australian Market. Photo Create is then opened up as a wholesale company to the market and takes on Big W and Harvey Norman as customers.

The Eastmon Group is contracted by Fujifilm to take over the management of Camera House New Zealand. An additional 25 stores in New Zealand are brought under management to the Eastmon group.

Photo Create New Zealand is launched as a Joint Venture with another party in the New Zealand market.

Eastmon Online is formed which operates direct to consumer websites as part of its retail offering.

Photo Create USA is formed in Phoenix Arizona and manufacturing from the US is undertaken.
Photo Create launches Blurb into the Australian Market.

Photo Create forms relationship with Apple to do its photo processing work in the Australian market.

Dinkleboo retail brand is launched. Dinkleboo has grown to have the largest range of personalised children titles in the world and operates in 8 countries.

Photo Create expands into personalisation and content driven product range. Laser category is launched.

Photo Create launches API offering to enable customers to access content and personalisation product.
"Customise Me" by Harvey Norman is launched as a collaboration between Photo Create and a retailer to grow personalised product sales for a mass retailer. National Rugby League (NRL) licensed products are launched.

Photo Create responds to substantial growth due to Australian lockdowns during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Eastmon Online launches websites in localised languages including French, Italian and German.
